About Dr. Youngblood
Dr. Derek Youngblood is a general dentist at Aloha Dental Specialty Center in Beaverton, Oregon. Born and raised on the west side of Portland, Dr. Youngblood has lived in this region his entire life — and he's been practicing dentistry here since earning his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) School of Dentistry, the only dental school in Oregon.
Dr. Youngblood approaches dentistry from a whole-health perspective. He often tells patients: the mouth is not separate from the body, and dental health can have a real impact on overall systemic health. At OHSU, he focused his training on re-establishing dental health with attention to both comfort and esthetics — recognizing that techniques from generations past have left many patients with anxiety about dental care.
His general dentistry practice covers preventive care, restorative work, dental implants, cosmetic dentistry, and the coordination of complex treatment with our specialty colleagues. He believes that knowing a patient — their goals, their concerns, their life circumstances — is the foundation of successful treatment, and that life events often change the way care needs to be approached, initiated, or paced.
Outside the office, Dr. Youngblood spends much of his time with his growing family in west Portland. He is happy to share photos of his sons — and, given the opportunity, plenty of stories.
