About Dr. Ostovar
Dr. Merat Ostovar is a general dentist at Aloha Dental Specialty Center in Beaverton, Oregon. He earned his undergraduate degree in neurobiology and physiology from the University of California, Davis, and completed his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) at Western University of Health Sciences in California.
Since 2016, Dr. Ostovar has practiced dentistry in the west Portland metropolitan area, serving patients across Hillsboro, Beaverton, and Aloha. His background in neurobiology shapes how he approaches dental care — he sees the mouth as connected to overall health, not separate from it. When patients come in with a complaint, he asks not just what the problem is, but what may be contributing to it.
In practice, Dr. Ostovar focuses on general dentistry across all ages, with particular interest in dental implants and full-mouth restorative care. He places implants within the scope of general dentistry and works closely with the rest of the Aloha Dental Specialty Center team — referring to Dr. Aki Take for endodontic procedures and to Dr. Richard Hsu for pediatric cases when complexity calls for it.
Outside the office, Dr. Ostovar values community ties to the west side of Portland. He believes that knowing your dentist — and your dentist knowing you — is the foundation of dental care that actually works long-term.

- Routine extractions within general-dentist scope; complex/impacted cases referred to an oral surgeon
- IV sedation — for patients who need conscious sedation during longer appointments (where the dentist holds the appropriate sedation certificate; see ledger)

Honest scope-of-practice matters. Dr. Ostovar will refer you within ADSC when a case is better handled by a specialist:
- Root canals — referred to Dr. Aki Take (board-certified endodontist)
- Pediatric care — referred to Dr. Hsu (pediatric dentist)
- Complex oral surgery — referred to a local oral-surgery practice when the case is outside general-dentist scope
